Circuits Redefines Nollywood Streaming with Continuous Payouts for Producers

Circuits, Nigeria’s leading virtual cinema and transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) platform, has announced a groundbreaking initiative that ensures Nollywood producers earn beyond their minimum guarantees and licensing fees. At least four producers with films on the platform are set to receive additional payouts tied directly to the ongoing performance of their content. These earnings will continue for as long as their films generate revenue, signaling a new era of fairness and sustainability in the African entertainment industry.

This move is more than a financial milestone—it represents a shift in how African storytellers are valued. By rewarding creators long after their initial contracts, Circuits is setting a new industry benchmark for transparency and creative empowerment.

Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, Chief Operating Officer at Circuits, emphasized the significance of this model:

“A system where films continue to earn for their creators is still rare in Africa. Circuits’ approach not only compensates producers fairly but also protects intellectual property, encourages reinvestment, and strengthens the ecosystem for African storytelling. Just eight months after launch, the growth we’ve seen points to incredible opportunities for the continent’s creative economy.”

She further highlighted that the company’s vision has always been to ensure consistent returns for those behind the scenes:

“This is about putting money back into the hands of the hardworking creators. With a robust content protection system and global distribution capability, Circuits offers producers not only upfront payments but also ongoing income as their films succeed. It’s a transparent model built for the future of African content.”

Since June 2025, producers on the platform have also been granted access to backend sales data and detailed analytics, adding another layer of accountability alongside the monthly reports they have received since Circuits’ inception.

With this bold step, Circuits is not only amplifying Nollywood’s global reach but also reshaping the economics of African cinema—ensuring that creativity is rewarded, protected, and sustained.
