Awfully Good Productions Debuts Comedy Web Series Green Card

Filmmakers Andre Ajayi and Dexter Onyekuru, the duo behind Awfully Good Productions, have rolled out their latest project — a daring comedy web series titled Green Card.

The show, which premiered on YouTube on August 9, 2025, takes a witty but unflinching look at the struggles of chasing the American dream under the weight of immigration bureaucracy.

The Storyline

At the centre of Green Card is Tobi, a fresh college graduate whose student visa is on the verge of expiring. Faced with the threat of losing legal status and with no career path in sight, he refuses to let go of his ambitions. Instead, he plunges into a series of reckless yet hilarious schemes to secure a green card. His best friends and roommates, Robbins and Tunde, unwillingly become partners in the chaos, each episode pulling them further into Tobi’s unpredictable world.

The series stars Anthony Fagbeyiro, Sam Odetoyinbo, and OV Overo in leading roles, bringing both humour and heart to the script.

The Vision

For creator and director Andre Ajayi, Green Card is more than comedy.
“It’s about the pressure of trying to succeed in America when the odds are stacked against you,” Ajayi explains. “Immigration and citizenship are urgent conversations today, and through this series, we wanted to give people something to laugh at, but also something to think about.”

Awfully Good Productions’ Approach

Awfully Good Productions has built its identity around telling bold stories with equal parts edge and authenticity. Their work often blends sharp humour with social commentary, while foregrounding underrepresented voices in film and TV. The company prides itself on delivering stories that are entertaining but also leave audiences with something to chew on long after the credits roll.

With Green Card, the team continues that tradition, weaving humour, heart, and cultural reality into a fresh, fast-paced series. It’s a story of ambition meeting bureaucracy, of friendship tested by impossible odds, and of laughter rising from life’s messiest challenges.
