“Far From Home,” a young adult series from Nigeria, debuts on Netflix.

Netflix has just released a new young adult series called “Far from Home” set in Nigeria, and it’s already getting a lot of buzz!

The show follows a group of high school students as they navigate their way through the challenges of growing up in a rapidly changing world. The story is set in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, and features a diverse cast of characters from all walks of life.

The TV series which was written and created by Chinaza Onuzo and Dami Elebe, the five-episode series follows protagonist Ishaya, whose dreams take him to the glitzy prestigious A-level school Wilmer Academy. Instead, he is faced with danger, deception, wealth trappings, and social hierarchy dynamics while battling a huge secret that threatens his newfound status and his family’s safety.

The Inkblot-produced limited series features  Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Bimbo Akintola and Carol King, alongside rising stars Mike Afolarin, Genoveva Umeh and Natse Jemide.

Speaking about the series, Dami Elebe, series writer, said,

“We wanted to create a young adult drama series that captures issues that young people face. We dive deep into topics such as depression and bullying while demonstrating the power of one having a dream and stopping at no cost to achieve it.”

Overall, “Far from Home” is a fresh and exciting addition to Netflix’s lineup of young adult content. It’s a must-watch for anyone looking for a captivating and meaningful series that showcases the diversity and richness of Nigerian culture.
